WELCOME TO EMT CONCEPTS

If you are in need of some good information about renewal or recertification options for the ACLS, or if you haven't earned your initial certification yet, then you've come to the right place. This is a topic that many workers in the medical field dread, and for good reason, since traditional courses and options are boring and inconvenient. Over the last decade, however, a number of new courses have sprung up which are either entirely or partially web-based. These programs can be taken from your computer over the Internet, which makes them much more convenient than the traditional programs from the past. We'll dig into both options and help you determine the best one for you. Be sure to check back as we'll be expanding out the site over time as much as possible.

ONLINE VS OFFLINE RENEWAL

The traditional Advanced Cardiac Life Support programs are notorious for being dry and sometimes difficult. Students have to plow through the latest American Heart Association guidelines or something similar and then listen to teachers slowly and methodically review the information covered. Since most courses are taught in a classroom setting, there are generally at least several slow learners who do a great job slowing everybody else down and generally holding up the process. Not a fun time for anybody involved.

Online courses solve the majority of these issues by eliminating the classroom and teacher from the program. Students sign up for a program and then access study materials and the test via their computer over the Internet. While this option is not for everybody, as it requires discipline and diligence for students to successfully complete and pass the exams, it is a great option for students without much time who still need to get their initial certification or renewal. It is important to note that students who are renewing their ACLS will often be able to complete their entire course online.

Students who are earning their initial certification, on the other hand, will be required by most, if not all, legitimate programs to also complete a skills test after they've successfully passed the online exam. The skills test will be performed on mannequins in the presence of an official instructor, and its purpose is to confirm that the student is familiar with the specific techniques involved in ACLS, including placement, where and how to begin/end, etc. Once a student has successfully completed the skills test, then they can send proof of completion to the company who's online program they completed and receive their card.
